Pearl Jam has a tentative date in Dallas not a confirmed date. My speculation is they were holding it if they do ACL which from what I hear is not happening.

Well if they still have the date listed on their website then i would say they are still a definite possibility

It is not on Pearl Jam's site or Superpages (dallas) site. It was in an e-mail to people on their list and it listed a tentative date with Pearl Jam. The venue as of last week has not confirmed the event--still states that it is a tentative hold. Pearl Jam has stated no more shows are planned for this year--but that could mean anything.

Radiohead, Raconteurs, Beck, Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Robert Plant/Alison Drauss, Death Cab, Potrishead, Sonic Youth, Sigur Ros, Shins, Cake. The rest can be a surprise, even though it gets better...

really? that's my least favorite record of theirs. don't get me wrong, i like it---it just doesn't compare to their other records in my mind. especially NO CODE. |

Happy to see another Scot will be at the festival. If the line up turned out to be as good as the T holiday weekend we would be in for a belter.
Bruce maybe a possibility, usually plays an Austin date as he has very strong ties with the city. Portishead is a good guess as they have just reformed and need to get the good word out there. Coldplay, Pearl Jam also a good possibility and Jack Johnson will also be there. Rcantu, steady on son. Did your parents ever drop the F bomb when you read out your Christmas list? Put some Rage on ( i'm not saying they will be there) and get some of that agression out of your system. |

Am I the only one praying that the White Stripes will play this year? In the ACL Festival Mash-up the Raconteur's "Steady as She Goes" plays however the Raconteurs are already playing two dates in Austin this spring. Perhaps it is just a hint that Jack will be there. ACL 2008 would be a perfect venue for Jack and Meg to prove to everyone that the White Stripes are alive and well. I believe that if they played, it would go down as one of the greatest ACL Festival performances of all time. I know this is all wishful thinking/hoping but does anyone else see this as a possibility. For the record, I do not feel that the White Stripes owe us from last year(s*** happens), I just believe this would be a great treat for the fans.
In reality however, my headliner prediction is: Friday: Jack Johnson Saturday: Pearl Jam Sunday: R.E.M. |

the second set of hand claps are from Iron and wine "boy with a coin". I saw him last night at the HOB in new orleans and his staff said he was definately playing.

It seems to me that The Raconteurs two date booking at stubbs is the makeup for The White Stripes missing out, as well as their booking at ACL, but to me, this is just lazy booking, and already seems to indicate a trend of laziness in booking. It happened last year with The Killers, and it looks like it's going to be that way in regards to The Raconteurs, NERD, and Wilco (eventhough they seem to play every year....which is ok).

I really dont think wilco will there this year. I know they play every year but i dont see it this year. Jack white has already said that the White Stripes may never play again. But that would be awsome. Wilco and the killers are two different stories, Wilco plays Austin every year, The killers don't. I really don't think wilco will play again. nerd has played 1 show at SXSW, and so far they aren' booked for any other fests. artists that have been overlooked that i think could be there:
Modest Mouse The Kooks Bright Eyes Kasabian |
