Apologies to Bonaroo, but that festival is booked by a bunch of wackos... I mean this in the sense that they dont have a genre really to stick to regarding top tear acts. ACL does. Lolla Doesnt. Acl Does. Metal/hard rock will never headline ACL, at least until the festival changes ownership. Sorry if that hurts your feelings.... And yes Modest Mouse is still a possibility, along with Franz Ferdinand

PM Productions... to play the role of devils advocate, if ACL was the "Festival Dejour" and the promoters knew what they were doing, they would have done something to replace The White Stripes last year, rather than releasing the statement, "Its rock and roll, people cancel last minute all the time." I'll bet you $100 that had they not collected all the money from ticket sales yet, they would have replaced The White Stripes. Since they already had all our money, why should they bother replacing them in the line-up? They’re business men first, concert promoters second… they proved that to us last year. This will be our 6th ACL in a row and we can’t wait to hang out with all you music lovers again, regardless of who’s playing. I really lost a lot of respect for the promoters last year, and they hosed all of us in the name of the almighty dollar. Im banking on them making it up to us this year, they definitely owe us for last year’s debacle.... Mr. Attal owes us a formal written apology for Bjork and the inaudible Bob Dylan

I feel the same way. I love the fact that i got a chance to see bob dylan being the lgend that he is. But it was just really bad. i cant say much bad about bjork because i didnt know what to expect going in and i thought she put a good show on. I do know that she definitley is not for everyone. Honestly i dont see any real pattern at all in the headliners. I think everything is fair game. I would love to see Rage come to Bush country during the year of the presidential election that will put bush out of office.

I have worked for C3 Presents for three years, and now do promotions for them in FTW for free. I have tons of friends there still, and I tap them for updates, but doing lineups is easy! It doesnt take a lot of work, you just have to know what clues to look for and put it all together. Also, I will put a more through explination of this concept on my website tomorow, but last year there was nothing Attal could do to replace The White Stripes in the lineup with 1 week left before the festival! If you work in the music business, you know that bands raise their rates very high if they are booked with little warning, IE one weeks notice, and the other thing you must understand is that C3 has bands sign backup contracts for just these types of events... They cant sign big acts to these kinds of deals. Dont think Charles Attal is some music scene God, he can only do what is acceptable in the industry, and he and his company did that. www.aclfestrumors.blogspot.com

if you worked for c3 presents for three years(which i am not doubting) what is the theme for headliners at acl?

And actually, Wilco did not play ACL 2 years 2003 and 2006, so you were wrong about that, plus you spelled Jeff Tweedy's name wrong. Personally I don't believe anything you say. from PM productions: Wilco is the number one alt/americana band in underground USA... They will most likely be booked this year, and every single year that ACL takes place. They have played all 7 years in ACL's history, and Jeff Twedie owns a house in Austin, just fyi.

Hey ObamasMamma, very well said. PM Productions, I dont question anything you're saying but I dont take it as the holy grail. This is the ACL "Rumors" site, so there will be some fiction mixed in with facts. Do me a favor though... rather than get us an apology from the C3 Presents people, ask them why unlike EVERY other festival on the planet, they charge for the ACL Tickets before they officially announce the line-up. In the past it hasnt bothered me, but after the last years debacle, I get a bit nervous when putting trust in people and a company that hosed us last year. Like ObamasMAmma said though, I dont care who plays, we're coming anyway.

true that! regardless of who plays in going, because even if you dont like any of the headliners, there are hundreds of other avts to check out. And its hard for me to complain about the white stripes cancellation last year. yeah I was pretty upset, but MUSE put on an amazing show.

To PWNTEK, C3 prefers not to have a theme for its headliners, at least not a stated one... But every year a list is compiled with the acts that they would like to go after, its a list that is about 500 names long, and only 10 or so are bands they would like to headline... I will say that Mettalica, RATM have never been on this list, and bands such as Dave Matthews, Bob Dylan, are always on the list. But, one caveat to this is that the year Coldplay played, they werent on anybody's lists. They got in touch with the fest and told them they wanted to play, so there is always some room for surprise, but not much. I will cover this more on my website later today. To BOOBFACTOR, actually in 2003 Wilco played a 10 minite set with local artist Buddy Thompson on the Ventures stage I believe, and it was our surprise show of the year, we have one every year. Most people dont get to catch them play... Like in 2007, the lead singer from The Flaming Lips Wayne Coyne hoped up on the same stage to play a small acoustic set, good times. Also, let me say that in no way am I claiming to have the lineup in my hand... The only things I base my guesses off of is the master list of about 500 acts which I get from my old buddies every year, as well as just knowledge of where and how these acts come from and why certain acts get booked each year. It is truly an inexact science. Today on the blog I will talk about this, along with addressing the hatred of C3 and also we will cover a bit of information on why ACL books who they do... Its good stuff, I reccommend it. I should have it up by 4. www.aclfestrumors.blogspot.com

PM Productions-so i checked out your site. and i must say i find it much harder to belive anything you say now. You said earlier that you had worked for C3 presents for three years before and are now already onto another job. Well your profile on YOUR website says that you are a student...And that your 18. now im not a business guru or anything so correct me if i'm wrong. But I really dont see why a large company like C3 would hire a 14 or 15 year kid to work for them. Maybe an internship but even then thats pushing it. And you said that you have a bunch of friends that still work there, and they get all the bands info. Which i am sure isnt given to everybody. So let me get this straight. Charles Attal is running his company with the presence of a bunch of barely legal college freshman?

What a looser. I remember reading in the A.A.S. that a band can not play ACL 3 years in a row if that helps anyone trying to figure out if their favorite bands are playing this year.
