It's scalpers and it's B.S. No way to prevent it from happening and it's crap. Why else would so many 3-day passes sell out so fast with no lineup announced? Just wait and see how many 3-day passes are for sale in the next few months for outlandish prices. F'ing scalpers.
What the hell? they said they would sell tickets this summer. Why did they sell all the summer tickets now? I wasn't going to have the money until this summer.
I am officially pissed off. And the worst part, its probably a ton of scalpers like mentioned, and if I want one I'll have to pay way too high a price.
Have you thought of that possibility that people will go regardless of who's playing?
I actually got the early bird tix in October right after the last ACL. I'm going no matter what. You just have to pay attention and get on the site early.
dw the problem isn't that people are waiting to get their tickets
i tried my hardest to get the tickets each time they have been available since the last acl ended, i even tried to get the student tickets last time around and even that was poorly organized
there are 2 major problems problems.
-Biggest problems is ofcourse the scalpers -Each time they do release tickets there are tons of actual fans and scalpers trying to get tickets AT THE SAME TIME, this overloads the system like it did yesterday for the e-list pre-sale
Thousands of people "payed attention and got on the site early" each time but were not able to get tickets bc of the overload
The "you shouldn't have wasted your time and gotten your ticket early" argument does not even apply
I hope C3 can recify this somehow, tickets being sold out before the lineup is announced of course means that people will go regardless of the bands, but even moreso proves that scalpers are trying to corner the market
only way to combat this is with a much more detailed ticketing system ala SXSW wristbands for Austinites or badges
Travis, since the price is too high for you just hold out. I have friends that get tickets at or below face value the week of ACL. Its all supply and demand. If everyone refuses to pay the higher price then the prices will have to come down. I used this strategy for the National Championship game and I got decently priced tickets.
It doesn't work all the time but if all scalpers bought tickets then there will be a ton of them on the market and they will have to bring prices down in order to sell them.
yeah, definitely wait it out. hopefully the majority of the people (like myself) who got screwed out of getting a legit 3-day pass will realize that if everyone just waits a while and doesn't overreact to the sell-out, those online scalper prices will go down. you should see reasonable prices for 3-day passes in august/september.
i also always hear that you can find scalpers with 3-day passes on friday at the gates who at that point are selling them for below face value, but i don't know how reliable that is. anyone ever tried this?
