I've been thinking the Smashing Pumpkins. They played it a few years ago before they broke up, and they have been announcing alot of overseas Festivals. Nothing to back this one up, it would just be nice for me as a Pumpkins fan.

Amy Winehouse would be fun, I know she's here for SXSW in a few weeks. After her album hits the U.S. she may become a little more popular.

Arcade Fire would be great. Their new album is pretty good and they'll be playing Coachella and Sasquatch.

Based on CD release dates (and a little inside information I have -- at least for a few of these), I would suggest that a few of the following will play ACL
-- Smashing Pumpkins (VERY STRONG POSSIBILITY)
-- White Stripes
-- Yeah Yeah Yeahs
-- Beastie Boys
-- Bryan Ferry/Roxy Music
-- Duran Duran
-- Crowded House
-- Ryan Adams
-- Wilco

I hope your right. Smashing Pumpkins, Beastie Boys White Stripes and Roxy Music would be great. All could be headliners.
Kaiser Chiefs, Kings of Leon and The Killers are playing several festivals too.

Apparently the Pearl Jam possibility might not be far fetched... especially with them supposedly head-lining Lollapalooza this year.

As for the person that complained about ACL becoming another Bonnaroo, its kind of tough to have 2 huge three-day festivals without having some of the same acts. I know what you're saying, but i think that its unavoidable. Plus, id rather see someone like Radiohead at both festivals rather than just Radiohead at Bonnaroo and Kelly Clarkson at ACL, just to make things different.... call me crazy

I've noticed that ZZ-Top is playing the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest. They would be an interesting addition to ACL.

MAN ZZ Top would be anticlimactic. What a boring signing.

Pearl Jam won't play because they're playing Lollapalooza - CSE wants to differentiate the festivals.

I know all of this is speculation, but if ZZ Top and Steely Dan are the headliners of ACL they could move the show to La Zona Rosa.

I just found this post you are referring to. I do agree with you that crossover is going to happen - perhaps as much as 85-90%. The message I get is basically a "hope" that ACL doesn't become an encore presentation of Bonnaroo (kind of like when MTV will have an awards show and then have an encore presentation "repeat" afterwards). I definitely don't get a inference to be a lesser festival for the sake of being different (such as bringing in Kelly Clarkson to headline as you suggest). I read a desire to surpass Bonnaroo. How can this be done? Likely making the headliners on some of the nights acts that didn't agree to do Bonnaroo. Can this be done? I don't know, but as an Austinite I agree with making ACL better than Bonnarroo... call me crazy!

The Waterboys have a new record coming out in early April. They don't get to the states too often, but that would be pretty cool to them. I caught them at La Zona Rosa back in '99 or 2000; it was a terrific show.

On an almost opposite spectrum, I think Tool and Ziggy Marley would be great additions to ACL. That would be some positive Bonnaroo run off.

I just watched the Kings of Leon interview on NME.com. They talk about playing ACL as part of their tour for this year.
