I just wanted to pass along some unbelievable news from the Charles Attal camp...Tom Waits is CONFIRMED for ACL Fest. I have been giddy about this all day. I just wanted to let you all in on the pleasant surprise!

This would be great.

However, they've recently discussed how much more the lineup is on lock down this year, so a leak at this point would go against logic.

Still, until the lineup comes out and he's not on it, I'll keep hoping. He would make the festival.

Even if they could get him to do a Sufjan-esque double night stand, it would be huge. That said, Attal nabbing Bjork and Tom Waits just seems too good to be true. Be still my avant garde loving heart...

Didn't Tom Waits take a solemn blood vow to never play in Texas after one of his friends/bodyguards/someone in his entourage got beaten up by a bouncer in Texas at a concert?

Confirmed Acts thus far include Asleep at the Wheel, Blue Mother Tupelo, Raul Malo, Reverend Horton Heat, Robert Earl Keen, Eli Young, The Dynamites featuring Charles Walker, The Jellydots, Christina Bell, Charlie Musselwhite, Ryan Bueter, Kevin Gordon, Sara Hickman, Kings of Leon, Andrew Bird, and Ben Kweller. All acts have been confirmed via myspace and other sources, Austin City Limits has NOT officially posted the line up.

A recent interview with Charles Attal on austin360 provided these helpful pieces of information: The Police are definitely not playing ACL. They have got dates in Amsterdam during ACL. ACL festival booker Charles Attal also stated that Pearl Jam is not on the bill either. When asked about the Smashing Pumpkins or the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Attal responded that the headliners are even bigger. Charles Attal later confirmed that Radiohead was not on the bill due to scheduling conflicts.
