He was discussing acts for the upcoming season of Austin City Limits. He said that they always do several tapings around ACL Festival and this year he was going to have Wilco, Bloc Party, and hopefully Arcade Fire.
hey man, i checked out that interview and you're right. he said bloc party and wilco WILL be returning to do tapings, and he said hopefully the arcade fire would, which makes me think they're already playing the festival. should be awesome
It's that they are being booked to play the TV show at the same time as the festival. If he's saying "hopefully Arcade Fire" it makes me think they're already playing the festival, but he's in the process of trying to sign them for the TV show.
He also talked about how he's tried (and failed) to get Bob Dylan for 30 years. Same for Springsteen.
Why would they do that? They have a history with ACL and are obviously fond of playing big, outdoor festivals. Sufjan has repeatedly said that he doesn't like to play outdoor venues because the acoustics aren't to his liking.
Because they've been playing double night theatre shows all throughout this tour. Because you can control the quality of sound in an indoor venue. Because ACL can be miserably hot. Because you can make just as much money or more to play two nights at the Paramount and still take on ACL.
Feel free. If they wanted to play indoor venues, why the fuck would they play Coachella?
In addition, look up what Wayne Coyne has said about festivals. Performers make a HUGE amount of money from a festival performance, more than they can make at a week of club shows.
if you're gonna be an asshole, get your facts right.
