With his touring with Benevento & Russo, and the duo's appearance at the 2006 ACLMF, Anastasio is a lock on the festival in some manner. Whether with the duo, or solo, it looks like he'll be there.
Now in a dreamer's world...Phish are rumored to be playing dates in fall 2006, like a Halloween show and a show on the 20th of September. I've got no proof or anything, but wouldn't that be a nice treat for ACL? A Phish reunion.
This would be quite a treat but I would not get your hopes up. The Trey, Benevento, Russo Tour is supposadly going to be in July opening for Phil Lesh. But I do hope your right!
Tom Petty has announced the Houston date for his tour. Not aware of the Dallas date yet. His Houston show is in August, which is surprising, I figured it would be ACL weekend. Support act is Trey Anastasio. Oft rumored act for ACL, loved by some, feared by others.
Tom Petty has a lot of top tier support acts on this tour (Pearl Jam, Alman Brothers, John Mayer, The Strokes, Trey Anastasio to name a few (or all)), so it is anybody's guess who his support act will be in mid-September. Could be somebody like John Mayer, who is already ACL confirmed. Could be some other band who ends up getting an ACL slot by virtue of being on the road with Tom Petty. All his announced support acts would fit into the festival just fine (Yes, even The Strokes). We will see. We know it is not Pearl Jam due to the European tour. It would have been cool to have Pearl Jam at ACL.
