By almost all accounts, Daft Punk was the best show at Coachella. What do you guys think the chances of them playing at ACL are?

Zero. Absolute zero.

Why do you say that? Do they have a tour conflict or are you just guessing?

I know exactly what you mean.

Look at it this way though:

There were a few electronica acts last year like M83 and Thievery Corporation, and it looks like Massive Attack is already signed on for this year. ACL organizers are clearly looking into booking more electronica acts, and maybe we'll even get a dance tent or something this year.

All I'm saying is I wouldn't COMPLETELY rule them out. After being totally shocked that they got M83 to play last year, I'm convinced that anything can happen.

Also, all of their dates between now and August is for festivals, and nothing is listed for September...yet.

Another dance-y French electronica outfit, Phoenix, will be playing. They're good friends with Daft Punk. Should this be taken as a good sign?

So Phoenix is expected to be there? They are one of my favorites. How did you come across this information? Oh, and thanks for sharing Smiler

I was at Coachella, and yes Daft Punk was the best performance, but Massive Attack was a very close second. I agree that Daft Punk will not be added for ACL. It really doesn't seem like the type of act they would get for the ACL festival. But who knows!?

god if they could just give one of the headlining nights to Daft Punk and Massive Attack that would so make it worth the trip.

Bangalter is in Phoenix!?! I must be slipping at my old age (of 22). I mean I haven't heard Phoenix before, so I guess I don't feel too bad. Damn, well that COULD be a possibility, but man, I would move to Austin if the punk came down for ACL.

If you want to see Daft Punk it looks like you're Daft Fucked. However, if you want to see geriatric and middle-aged housewife friendly acts, ACL 2006 is THE place to be!
