it was brought to my attention that charles attal is the promoter/booking agent/whatever you wanna call him of both acl fest and lollapalooza. if you look at the confirmed acts for both, you'll notice a lot of matches: flaming lips, the shins, matisyahu, thievery corporation, the new pornographers, iron and wine). so it seems probable that quite a few more acts on the lollapalooza lineup would play acl fest.

About The Secret Machines...Last year when the first offical setlist for ACL was release, TSM were on the bill. But later had to pull out of the commitment because they were scheduled to be in the studio working on the new album when ACL was supposed to happen. Now that they have completed their new LP, and were in Austin during SXSW, I think they will be here again for ACL!!! They do hve great light shows, almost like a "poorman's pink floyd lightshow"

Built to spill is playing Tulsa in september before ACL, and If I remember correctly from last year, most bands that played tulsa in early september moved south to ACL.
So BTS is a possibility?

Built to Spill would be negative.

According to Pollstar, they will be in Chicago ACL weekend, playing at the Metro.

They will be in Austin on October 20th at Stubb's.

Malone said that the same people who book Stubbs book ACL Fest, which I didn't know. This makes sense for booking acts for the festival who are playing Stubbs in the next couple of months, I can see where he's coming from now.

I suppose this raises the chances of She Wants Revenge, Snow Patrol, Arctic Monkeys, and Sonic Youth significantly. Is that right Malone?

they are playing a couple of shows with the Flaming Lips this summer. They are totally down with the Attal/Stubbs crew. They haven't played Austin since ACL 2003.

The Vines have no tour as of now, but if/when they go on tour, they wouldn't surprise me at all.

Not just people who have played Stubb's the past few months, go back a lot longer than that.

Of your list. Hard to say, none of the acts are showing September dates on their schedules. A few are likely touring away from the U.S. in September. In order of how likely I think they might be.

1. She Wants Revenge (This one just feels really likely, they are hot at the right time (i.e. the past few months, when the bands are gettting booked). Playing Lollapalooza, was at Stubb's last night.
2. Sonic Youth (lots of U.S dates in the summer). Possible, whatever, not really my thing.
3. Arctic Monkeys (I am sure ACL would take them if they could get them, last posted date is 8/26 in Reading, UK, they would have to come back to the states to play ACL). ACL likes to get the SXSW buzz bands.
4. Snow Patrol (early September dates in Europe, may be in Europe for Setember). Could happen, but I have a feeling not.
