Odds are so small for Cream to reunite. It'd be awesome, but they have no plans to join back, and if they did, it's unlikely Festivals would be featured.
However, Clapton himself would be so great, chances are still pretty slim, but he'd be a great headliner, and a huge sign on for ACL.
As a matter of fact it is not mere speculation, a few websites have said that Cream plans to play some major dates in the US. I would expect LA, NY, SF, but I think that's gonna be about it. I have also heard that the clapton us tour will be Clapton AND Allman Bros. not Clapton w/ Allman Bros. That I could see being at ACL
I would expect Cream to play again somewhere. However, I think it will won't be as part of a festival. Probably more multi-night stands in big cities. Maybe, small tours.
Eric Clapton solo would surprise me, but it is not impossible. I don't think the names we have so far are all the "Headliners of ACL 2006." So, you would expect some other acts, with a larger or equal draw to Tom Petty and Ben Harper. It is also possible that Flaming Lips and John Mayer might be slated for closing slots. Let's not forget John Mayer's last two Central Texas appearances were at the Verizon Wirless Amphitheater and the Frank Erwin Center.
