Hey observer, if you are going to call Malone a liar, your argument is pretty weak without pointing out which information is wrong.

Built to Spill and Decemberists did an ACL after show togeter at "La Zona Rosa." Prior to that Decemberists were making the rounds with other Austin shows.

http://www.lazonarosa.com/index.cfm?Fuseaction=EventDetail&EventID=543

Putting the wrong venue down in my haste does not deter from the main point. The Decemberists, like most of the other bands, are not bands who only played Austin at ACL. That was the debate, right?

Anyway, I am not going to reply anymore, the list stands up to the degree it needs to, you can knit pick about venue, I did the internet research, the shows occured. I did not attend all the shows. The basic truth is very solid. Go over every line if you want, you won't come up with a result that backs your premise.

Other AUstin shows
Emo's 4/02/2005, that would be five months prior to ACL.

Hmmm, lets look at some of the acts, Aimee Mann, Gnarls Barkley, Wolf Parade, Ween, The Shins, Thievery Corporation, Secret Machines, Stars, Feist.

Yeah, I agree, some real geezers there! Probably will be need to be assisted to the stage.

I think I need to register "GEEZERFEST" with the trademark office because I'm concerned the ACL promoters will co-op it for themselves!

Next thing you know there will be N.O.Jazzfest and ACL Geezerfest!

i think this year just didnt go as planned. i dont think they intended to have 3 headliners over the age of 50. attal and co have good taste, but they just struck out this year. i expect the 2007 festival to be monumental. maybe.

When I got in touch with the festival about it, they told me they were attempting to get back to the roots of the television show this year. They also made a good point that a similar festival each year gets boring and goes against the TV show.

They specifically said to me that last year was more geared towards the younger generation, and that this year was going back to the television show and more artists that would appear on it. Cuz honestly, can you see Oasis on ACL? I can't, but I can sure see almost everyone on this year's lineup.

If you don't care for this lineup, you don't care for the show, and that's fine. Just letting you know, don't get pissy about saying you're a loyal ACL fan if you don't really care for the show.

there's a simple solution to all the bitching and whining about the lineup...don't go. there are actually alot of bands i'd like to check out, so i'll be there. plus, there are always a few bands that i don't know before hand, that quickly become an addition to my cd collection. granted, the lineup may not hold up to years past, but the festival is always a good time, and i'm looking foward to it.

have fun if you're going.

have a nice day if you're not.
