I hope none of you naysayers show up, and if you do, I will have plenty of room to plant my elbow into your tiny ribs

Other than the headliner's, I am okay with the line up. Of the 13 or so bands I really an excited about, only two of them Ive seen before (Secret Machines are like a poor man's pink floyd and Thievery Corp are just fcking awesome)
This years headliners IMO are not as great as last years, but just like all the years Ive been to ACL, it's the smaller, the unknown bands that blow my mind away!!!! If you dont like the line up, dont go!!!

the bands Im excited about:
Gnarls Barkley; The Flaming Lips; The Raconteurs; Massice Attack; Galactic; Secret Machines; Thievery Corp; Matisyahu; New Pornographers; Black Angels; Kings Of Leon; Damien Marley; Charlie Sexton; What Made Milwaukee Famous and Gomez(not just because Gomez is my name, but they are good)
So that is 15 groups I am interested in...thats about $10 a band...Im not complaining!

I agree with paranoid.....
Plus, the aftershows are what ACL is all about, folks.
My guesses 1 - Kings of Leon w/ The Secret Machines at Stubbs (they toured together last year) - one of the best shows I have evr seen

2- Raconteurs
3 - Gomez
4 Ween?

No one is saying Willie and Van aren't "legends" any fucking retarded mole acknowledges that....but do they deserve to headline ACL? Willie barely headlines HIS OWN SHOW! I can honestly say I have paid to see all three of these guys, but as a paying fan I can also recognize my complete disappointment that THIS will be what we wait in the dusty sun all day for: the climax, the crescendo, its brown eyed girl ladies & gents followed by moondance! ACL ROCKS WOOOOOHOOOO!
The last two years we had "rock" bands headlining, instead we get Classic Rock Greats 101. Look old foggies come out to play for one last night tour. I mean legend or not, Van Morrison hasn’t been relevant for 20 years! Austin City Limits is known for its ability to consistently present an amiable mix of musical styles, this is what makes it consistently such a standout event/show. In keeping with this theme I would have liked a bit more variety with the headliners: last year we had some jam band stuff, some old school cheese, some sentimental romance and some rock...this year we get old rock legends.

ehh, old rock legends are 95%(being modest) better than all the current 'rock' bands today. and don't give me any shit, i'm under 30.

Hey - this year's lineup may not seem very "relavent" or "hip," but one needs to remember that the ACL Fest is the "Austin City Limits" music festival. If anyone has every seen the great PBS show "Austin City Limits," he or she would know that the broadcasts are usually not comprised of the latest and greatest "band of the moment" in the music world. If ACL is too "yuppie and old" for you, quit whining and go to Lollapalooza (sp?).

maybe instead of adding (sp?) to your post, you could take the five seconds to confirm the spelling, you dumbass. by the way, you misspelled "relevant."

How is Los Lonely Boys a Headliner? I tend to agree with the majority of you all, the lineup is sub-par, especially compared to last year's. Oh well-hopefully we'll have better weather at least!

As with so many things, there will always be those who complain that everything isn't the way they think it should be. I agree with the Guest who reminds everyone that this IS the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and all that implies. I, for one, am absolutely thrilled with the line-up. Every person has his/her own taste in music, and if this isn't the music festival for you, then please don't bother going, so that there will be a ticket for someone who really does want to be there. There is great music everywhere, and varied tastes. We are very lucky to live in a city where live music abounds constantly. Those who have nothing but negative things to say about ACL Fest should listen to those people who live in areas with very little access to live music at all. I'm very grateful for the opportunity ACL gives us here to bring so much talent to one venue for three days. Even if I didn't like any band that was going to be playing there, I would be still be happy that Austin is a place where music is revered, and I would just skip ACL Fest and satisfy my taste somewhere else. I'm sorry that so many seem disappointed, but remember, ACL Festival didn't even exist a few years ago. So why must you complain? OK, off my soapbox. This is a site for differing opinions, so I respect those that differ from mine. And all I can say is...I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL SEPTEMBER!

<<observer>> is such a typical flamer. As soon as anything is objectionable to his/her advanced brain, he will point out misspellings. We are all very glad you won the 4th grade spelling bee. However, 9 out of 10 posters who bitch about content have nothing of relevance to say anyway. Hence, you, perhaps should shut the fuck(sp?)up, observer.

They have two main stages, chances are, when Willie Nelson and Van Morrison are playing, there will be somebody else decent on the other stage. Perhaps, Flaming Lips, Ben Harper, Massive Attack, or Jack White's band. There will be counterprogramming, ACL has been good on that aspect for the most part.

For example, last year, while many of you were at the Black Crowes; Lyle Lovett was playing to the very large crowd that digs Willie and Van Morrison.

Almost all the mid-level bands that everybody is whining about not being on the ACL schedule will hit smaller Austin venues over the next twelve months. Some just came. Go to those shows.

In the past month, I saw Wolfmother, Imogen Heap, and TV On The Radio. I have tickets to Artic Monkeys and Panic at the Disco. Having a bands you like play ACL should be considered icing on the cake, a nice bonus show. This should be true for all the festivals. If you want to see a band, go see them, with the exception of Radiohead, they will come around soon.

Some of you sound like spoiled little kids. If you can't find value in ACL, than you are missing out on some great music. Your loss.
