the shins, raconteurs, kweller, kings of leon, iron and wine, son volt, new pornographers, gomez, nada surf, jose gonzales, the long winters, the stills, and dare i mention sparta? sparta really has no place in that lineup. they probably couldnt get the mars volta or something. some of the above may some good albums, but in terms of live performance, its all pretty mediocre and underwhelming.

beyond ignorant for you to compare bonnaroo to ACL. do you know anything about the difference in the two festivals?

bonnaroo is $80 more expensive, sells 25,000 more tickets (and is more crowded)... but only has 85 bands on the lineup.

at acl, you pay a dollar a band (yes, $1 f-ing dollar). acl limited capacity last year because it was too crowded.

if there are 10 bands on the lineup you love, that's $13 a band. you pay $20 to see any decent band live, so you do the math.

if you can't find 10 bands on this lineup you love, then you're no music fan.

actually, i usually pay 10-15 dollars to see a band i like. and that's for more than 45 minutes without several thousand drunk frat boys and being gouged for water in the 100+ degrees heat.

fair enough on the bonnaroo comparison...but the top part of this lineup is undeniably piss poor...i'm sorry - the headliners are a big part of the draw - and last years headliners were 500% better than these...im not even a coldplay fan

van morrison?!?! WTF?

boff, which headliners last year were so much better than the headliners this year? other than coldplay... what headliners are you referring to?

van morrison and tom petty are in the f-in rock and roll hall of fame and collectively have sold countless gold records. how can you not respect the fact that these guys are LEGENDS? not old fart... but legends.

damn, gain some perspective and respect for music history and not just what has been cool in the last five years.

Yeah, i can see how Van would not be so popular in Texas...He has always been an urban legend...Last time I saw him several years ago at Irving Plaza and tickets costs $100. Scalpers were getting $200...But that is NYC...Petty is from my hometown and he never plays here so good to see him too. Though I've seen Willie a zillion times should be fun to see him in TX...Came back from the NO Jazzfest recently...No other fest will ever rise above that one as the Headliners Dylan,Matthews, and especially Springsteen had the crowd in their hands...Many in the crowd had never seen Springsteen but were swayed before the ist tune was over...So I do suggest U keep an open mind U never know what will move u. But
I think U can remane this the ACL Geezerfest...perfect for 50 yr olds like me and the wife!

i agree, i look at palooza and i see a bunch of buzz bands that i can't wait to see.. wolfmother, hard-fi, subways, panic at the disco, Umphrey's McGee, editors, rapture, pepper so on and so on. i think the headliners will be fun, but what about the rest of the day. and yes, i have tickets to palooza and acl. kinda wish i had gotten bonnaroo and not acl but oh well. bring on mary jane and moondance baby. also, i know palooza is still adding acts, has acl said if they will do that or not?
