I really like John Mayer. His blues stuff is top notch, he's gotten the blessing of BB King and Buddy Guy, and Eric Clapton signed him on for Crossroads, so you know the guy can play.

mayer is a poser. he can play the blues, but its pretty much devoid of any soul. theres no substance behind the notes he plays. the only band i can think of right now that has revitalized blues is the black keys. the duo simply tear it up. mayer is too PG rated, hence his fan base. so enjoy "your body is a wonderland" along with thousands of screaming 13 year olds. they certainly know their blues.

I'm amazed one of the bands people keep mentioning for headliners is RHCP. I mean seriously, what have they done that's all that great in the last fifteen years or so? Yes, they put out a great CD (Blood...Sugar...), but that was back in 1991. Californication is pretty good, but the rest of their material is pretty weak imo. I've heard a fewe off their new one, and it's pretty much more of the same, nothing really new or groundbreaking. And they are already headlining Lollapalooza!

The other bands that people keep mentioning are Beck and Radiohead. I have seen Radiohead four times, and yes they are very good (though still like the OK Computer, Bends stuff better than the last three), but again they are already playing Bonnaroo. And, I'm sure they will play a full tour when the release their new CD.

Oh, and I'm also over 30, and will be coming with four other people who are over 30. So, no contrary to popular belief, this festival is not strictly targeted to twenty-somethings!!!

hey shrubbery, how many times has John Mayer played "your body is a wonderland" in his last year and a half of touring and playing mostly straight ahead blues?
Why don't you look into that and get back with me.

I must say this lineup didn't impress me much. There was so much gossip and talk about how there were going to be crazy headliners, and it just made me feel stupid checking back everyday for new info on bands that might play the festival.

There were talks of acts such as Radiohead, RHCP, Beck, Pearl Jam, DMB, Sujan Stevens, Daft Punk, Prince, and on and on, and there really isn't one act on the bill that is something out of the ordinary other than Van Morrison (who I could care less to see).

I'm still going to the show just to see Massive Attack, but all the other acts are ones that I will see at the other festivals this year.

It just really pisses me off how much they hype it up by the little grackle game and delaying all for a mediocre lineup...just so they can sell more tickets.
