So now that Attal's clued us in and let us know that neither the Police nor Pearl Jam will be there, but that the headliner will be bigger than either the Red Hot Chili Peppers or Smashing Pumpkins, let's speculate.
LIKELY OPTIONS: Bob Dylan The Who Neil Young & Crazy Horse Bruce Springsteen Radiohead The Eagles Beastie Boys
UNLIKELY OPTIONS: CSNY Rolling Stones U2 Stevie Wonder The Fugees Dave Matthews Band Paul Simon Prince Brian Wilson Dixie Chicks Rage Against the Machine
BIG ENOUGH TO QUALIFY?: White Stripes Foo Fighters Green Day Widespread Panic Bjork Tool Manu Chao Nine Inch Nails
I'm still hoping for Radiohead. A Muse return would certainly rock. I would enjoy some variety in the ACL so the Fugees would also be a great addition, although I see no reason or indication they would play ACL.
Let me clarify. I threw the Fugees into the mix because they're one of the few hip/hop acts that could headline a whitebread festival like ACL. That said, I think there's a snowball's chance in hell that they would ever actually play ACL before other major festivals. Snowball's chance.
And PJ, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, RHCP and The Police have all been directly confirmed by Attal as NOT being at ACL. So it's pointless to speculate on those who have already been eliminated. Might as well thrown in a Smiths reunion while we're at it.
I don't think it'll be like that. Tentatively, it's:
Friday: Bjork, The Killers
Saturday: Bob Dylan, Yusuf Islam, Arcade Fire, The White Stripes
Sunday: Stevie Wonder/Neil Young, Eddie Vedder, Wilco
I have the "/" in between Stevie and Neil because that's how they have it in the headlining slot on Sunday night. They won't be sharing the stage of course, so I don't know if that means they're only getting one or the other or they haven't decided which one will headlining or what. Pearl Jam was on that same spot too originally, but it's scatched through.
The White Stripes released their touring schedule up through August for the US. Looks like they touring up and down the East Coast through July, so they may be ready to come down to Texas by September
I admit and I think it is clear that I am not a Bjork fan, but I am curious about her stage show....does she have a full band? who is her stage show comparable to? I just keep thinking of songs that wouldnt seem to transfer well to a festival format
i'm not a huge bjork fan myself, but my wife is, and the performaces i've seen from her were great. if you can find it on youtube or whatever, she performed at last saturday's snl. the first song was good, the 2nd song was just phenomenal. she does have a full band- i saw a bad ass drummer, a FULL horn section of cuties, a dude with a laptop and keyboards, and another dude on some weird little piano thingy.
thistrain, I'm praying to God I'm on the money. Like I've said before, I've always been one of the ones every year dying to know who's playing so when I got this info passed to me this year, I couldn't just sit on it knowing how everyone feels. I just hope it's accurate for the most part because some of it does look hard to believe.
