We've all looked at the other festivals' lineups and all for this year, but I wondered what people here have been to other festivals (Including but not limited to Coachella, Lolla or Bonnaroo) and what you thought. ACL was my first festival last year (Just now 17) and will be my second this year. Money and travel problems prevented me from Bonnaroo, and I don't much care for Chicago. But for others, what other festivals have you attended, and if possible, how do they stack up to ACL?

I havent been to any other festivals but ACL, but a good friend of mine has been to Coachella and at last years ACL fest,I got to talking with a guy who had been to Bonnaroo...Both my friend and the other guy agree that ACL Festival has the greatest food court!! The variety of food and refreshments at ACL was the best thing of the entire fest is what they told me.

Woodstock 99, NetAid in London, Voodoo in New Orleans, JazzFest in New Orleans, Lollapalooza when it toured, SXSW, UltraFest in Miami, EdgeFest in Dallas, Biggest Party in History in Houston, and others.

ACL is not my favorite in terms of music mix, but it is local and I like it a lot. I prefer the lineups of Coachella and Lollapaloza. However, I don't want ACL to try to hard to be like the other fests, I appreciate the mix it brings.

I have been to some festivals (lolla. until sonic youth headlined, merlefest '95, first three bonaroos, and 2004 aclfest and many other local festivals) and acl is the best...the organization, how nice the people were, relative cheap local food court, how they orchestrated the start times on each stage to allow you to see as much music as possible, etc. Austin is a great city and I fell in love with it and its great people in '04. I never felt overly tired or stressed out about getting anywhere around the whole area. And I am already psyched about who is playing, regardless of the delayed release of the last approx. 100 bands.

I went to ACL 2 years ago. I have been to Edgefest in Dallas for 10yrs. I have been to chilifest, ozzfest twice, lilith fair and horde fest. I went to Lollapalooza back in the nineties. I also went to SXSW and to warp tour quite awhile ago. I also went to see phish, actually followed them in that phase. I think that I just like the atmosphere in Austin. I love live music, but the shows I have seen there are the best. Also did anyone go to rockfest besides me at the Texas Motor Speedway? just wondering, I was really young and that was a new thing for me.

rockfest was the first festival i went to. i was 12 at the time and went with my sister and her two friends. i remember seeing third eye blind, counting crows, sugar ray, bush, no doubt. i remember getting lost, bottles filled with piss, seeing for the first time this guy get the shit kicked out of him by like 5 other guys. it was a strange experience for a 12 year old i think. i think it was also my intro to rednecks, bongs, dallas, bottles filled with piss, huge masses of people. there must of been like a half a million people there.

I went to Rockfest. I was 19 or so at the time. That was a LONG time ago.

I have been to ACL and Jazzfest. I went to Lilithfair as well. I have had the opportunity to go to Bonaroo and Coachella, but Coachella was always the same time as JazzFest.

Jazzfest is awesome, but the good acts are spread over many different days. Of course, the bad thing for me was Jazzfest was always around Loyola and Tulane finals, so I usually was mired in those too.

Cambridge Folk Festival - every year since 2000.
This year (amongst others) it features Emmylou Harris, Nickel Creek, Tift Merritt, Tom Russell, The Chieftains, Richard Thompson, Teddy Thompson, Rodrigo y Gabriela and Amadou & Mariam. At past festivals I've seen Nick Cave, Robert Plant, John Prine, Iris DeMent, Steve Earle, etc, etc.
This year will be my first ACL - flying over for it.

I went to Coachella this year and in 2002. I was going to the ACL last year, but cancelled because of the stupid hurricane. I'm really excied about this years lineup. I was glad to see Massive Attack added to the lineup for ACL, they were great at COachella! Hopefully Horace Andy and Liz Frasier will be with them at ACL.
