The Black Keys are opening for Radiohead for a couple of US dates. I'd love to see them make it down. If Radiohead is smart they will demand that the Black Keys play nowhere near them as the Keys make anyone look uninspired on stage.
the Black Keys totally blew me away at ACL last year. I had never heard of them and we just kind of stumbled onto their set, by the end of it we were just amazed at how good it was. They are now one of my favorite bands. I would LOVE to see them and the Drive-by Truckers back at ACL again this year.
I really hope the Black Keys come back, they are awesome, and unfortunately last year I hadn't heard of them so I didn't see them, but since I've listened to them and, like you Johnny, they've developed into one of my favorite bands.
From what I heard they were a big deal last year at the festival, like they recieved very positive reviews from everyone who came to see them, especially those who didn't know who they were. So let's hope the festival runs with this and books them again.
I saw the Black Keys last year when the opened for The Arcade Fire at Stubb's. It was one of the official ACL after party shows and they rocked hard!!! I really enjoyed them, even though I had not heard of them at the time. Arcade Fire still just totaly blew me away, but the Keys were freaking just as awesome!!!
Arcade Fire at Stubb's that friday of acl '05, was IMO the greatest live musical performance I have ever been to in my entire life. (that includes Pink Floyd PULSE tour 1994) We left ACL during Keane's set (who IMO sucked) decided to leave the fest early, drive down to stubb's and buy tix from a scalper, we got lucky and were in the very front row. The entire crowd at Stubb's seemed to know every lyric to every song, so the roar of the small venue was huge and you can tell how the Arcade Fire just responded to the crowd, the show was way too good. Even to this day, I still get that same spirital feeling inside when I hear "Wake Up" which was the song they opened up to. Win Butler, even did more than one stage dive. So then came Sunday at ACL, Me and my girlfriend sat in the very front row, through Eisley (sucked) and Doves (who were great) a total of 4 hours waiting for Arcade Fire. It was that special!!! I even made the decision to miss the Kaiser Chiefs to see Arcade again. I highly recommend everyone to jump on the chance if you can to catch The Arcade Fire
I have to second Corporal re: Arcade Fire. I did not have the chance to see them at Stubb's but I made damn sure to be at the ACL performance and it was without a doubt the best I had ever seen. I have a feeling they will not be at ACL this year (just a feeling - nothing more) - but I hope that I am dead wrong. Just having AF their would justify the trip from Seattle to Austin.
anyone see the black keys gig at emos in 2005? i also saw their show at stubbs, but their gig at emos was simply one of the best shows iv ever seen in my life. if you thought their performance at stubbs and acl was good, it didnt even touch their show at emos. maybe it was just a one off thing, but it was something else.
official release....20 minutes ago confirmation....radiohead is not that great, neko case takes center stage, with csny, officially billed as Neko CaSeNY.
heres a thought---Isnt it amazing the stuff yoiu can see at bars!?!?!!?!? I saw "the heartless bastards", not the mcmurtry bacnd, but the heartless bastards from cincinatti, also on lucinda williams picks on amazon. Anyway, point being that live music is what makes the world turn and the bowels move. God bless good live music
If I see any hipsters with stupid hair hanging wrong i will cut it for free compliments of steve earle. No hipsters allowed this year. The shins can blow me. If i want that shit I can goto lollypoplosers in chicago.
Steve earles wife allison moorer, has been banned from ACL for heroin abuse in the la zona rosa parking lot, and Steve Earle will never be seen in Austin again, fucking shame
