David Gilmour was on Jay Leno a few days ago, playing the title track to his new album "On An Island". Playing alongside with Gilmour were Crosby and Nash.
Crosby and Nash collaborated with Gilmour on one of the songs on his new album and played the song with Gilmour live at the New York stop on his tour, in addition to the late night TV thing (so I have read). Their live collaborations are not a regular thing.
Gilmour's last scheduled show on his tour is 5/31. He could always schedule a leg and you never know what could happen. He could also end up at ACL, although I think he falls in to the very, very unlikely category.
CSNY have a US tour booked from 07/06 to 9/10 without any Texas dates. Hence, the current speculation they may end up at ACL.
The jamming is based on Crosby and Nash being free to jam with Gilmour. This summer, they are going to be tied up with the CSNY tour. So, even if CSNY were booked, Gilmour would not just show up to play with them.
The only scenario that could see the Crosby, Gilmour and Nash scenario would be for ACL to book both Dave Gilmour solo and CSNY. Which is very, very unlikely.
I would be very down with CSNY. I think Neil like Austin, the SXSW appearance when someone suggested another protest song sparked a whole new album from him. Their CSNY tour is nearing Texas a month before the dates...
I would really like to see this booked. They did such a great job booking bands last year, I hope this year is just as good!
everyone wants to see willie nelson at ACL fest. it would be 10x better if willie took the stage with crosby stills nash and young instead of gilmour. they could call themselves NSYNC or something. has a much better ring to it than SCYNG.
