I signed up for that email and haven't recieved shit. I had to find out for myself and luckily got the 1st tier tix. ACL website seems a little slackish. No updates on releases etc. I guess its a southern thing ;.
by the way, for the locals: Does the bar music scene kick ass after fest hours that weekend? I was looking forward to checking out all the venues i hear of on kgsr (internet stream)after the fest (ends at 11?). IE la zona rosa, stubbs, etc. Wheres the best places to go? New to ACL, but decided against a couple other fests because i think the music here will be better. Maybe some sweet acts will be at the bars that werent at the fest? PS dave matthews pooped in our river
Yeah, me too... But last year I saw Arcade Fire at Stubb's on the first night of the fest, and then they played the fest on Sunday, so we got to see them twice. Black Keys also opened at Stubb's. As we get closer to festival time, the acl website will post offical after hour gigs in Austin. Also, there is a restaraunt called Java Noodles not very far at all from Zilker, it is an Indonesian Cuisine, very good food, and from what I hear, they have the very best delivery service in all of ATX!!!! I recommend the Pad Thai, or Mei Goreeng!
Anyways, a new name has been thrown out though, although there's absolutely no backing behind it, R.E.M. was thrown out. There's no back info on it though.
My thoughts? I like them, but they'd be a repeat headliner which is lame and a step backwards for ACL.
In regards to the whole Radiohead thing, I wouldnt discout what the topic started said soley based on alc06's comment. Actually, I work with a guy whose brother works for ACL. I know this for a fact. Anyways, my fried said his brother was all but certain Radiohead was going to be there this year. That was about two weeks ago. Take it for what its worth.
Rumors seem to be just a fun way to pass the time until the actual line-up is releases. If anyone is actually gullible enough to purchase tickets based off of something someone says on a message board, then they deserve what they get. A lot of people purchased tickets in advance. I purchased mine before the scavenger hunt. I have had a great time at the past three festivals and expect the same this year. Radiohead would blow my mind (as they have the two times I have seen them), but I'm not going to take a rumor seriously until it is actually posted (and then not even then, because some of the bands that I have been hoping to see in the past, have pulled out after the release of the line-up)
Yeah, KLC...seems radiohead was going to play but pulled out last minute, as in lees than a week ago. I'm sorry for getting everyone's hopes up (including my own) but it seems they aren't playing anymore, but are already on for ACL 2007. Sorry all...last thing I heard, the REM thing was a strong bet. Later all.
