I really hope Radiohead plays this year's fest. I am huge Pavement/Malkmus fan so I'm definately crossing my fingers and hope this pans out. Not a big Muse fan, but http://www.stereogum.com posted a new Muse song earlier today. Check it out if you're a fan or just curious.

Well this was a draining day, now my hopes will be up and I'll definitely be nervous for the next week.

Anyways, I suppose if Mercurix is legit he'll stick around this thread, and will continue giving information this week, which he'll indubitably come across if he's working at the firm.

And whenever you read this Mercurix, you've said two different ways about hearing Radiohead, both from someone saying "huge acts like Radiohead" and seeing a graphic with them, so was it both?

Thanks, my hopes are now for Radiohead and DMB to both make it, two very different acts yet I get the feeling it would all combine for a brilliant fest.

Sorry folks. Mercurix is a scam. Those of us who work for ACL saw this thread go up and had to put Mercurix in his place. Thus registering for an account and this being the first post.

Rumors and speculation are one thing; lies and deceit are another thing. Mercurix, you should be ashamed (although you're probably 13 so this is fun for you).

We do all of our design within the company, so Mercurix just busted himself in his own lie. And; Radiohead and DMB are unfortunately not on the lineup this time around. The 06 lineup is incredible, but neither of these two bands will be in Austin in September. In fact, neither of these bands were even close to being on the bill (although both were considered).

So, sorry to be the bearer of "bad" news; but please just use common sense and don't believe random sh&t on a message board. It's fun to guess, but no real employee of ACL would leak a big name band on a message board.

Forgot to add, our very own Charles Attal confirmed recently Radiohead wouldn't be on the bill:

Note, acl06 posts were credited to <acl2006>, if they registered for an account, there would not be any <> symbols. So, this business about him or her registering for an account seems odd.

Mercurix is likely a hoax, but I have my doubts about acl06 as well.

I feel bad for the folks who are only buying tickets based on Radiohead, you are really missing out on the real joy of ACL, lots of diverse bands in a short amount of time.

this is a total bs rumor. whether or not somebody took the time to create an account is irrelevant. the fact is, the promoter/organizer/etc of the festival already gave a press release stating radiohead was not in the lineup. which sounds to me like one of two things. 1) they never intended to go after radiohead, which is ridiculous considering they were probably the most asked for band when they did the survey. 2) they went after them, but got turned down. in which case, having an extra week to announce isn't going to change anything. you should all be ashamed for getting your hopes up.

i just heard from a VERY reliable source that the Traveling Wilburies will be reuniting for this year's ACL festival...

except, Thom Yorke will be standing in for George Harrison... and Shakira will take Roy Orbison's place.

Oh, and Jeff Lynne will be wearing one of those music-suits (like the one Dick Van Dyke had in Mary Poppins) to make up for the fact that the band hasn't had a chance to rehearse

there really is no headliner left out there that makes me really excited...i hope the 2nd-3rd tier band list gets better...or just give massive attack saturdays headliner slot.

Anyone who thinks I posted something untrue, then that's fine. I know what I heard. And as for no employee of ACL leaking, I'm not an ACL employee...I stated that many times. Although, since it is questionable if acl06 is the real deal, I will unfortunately have to stop posting. And I hope it is real like the rest of you, but then again I'm sure I didn't just drop into some 4th dimension where everyone's out to fool me into thinking RH are playing ACL. I totally understand the skeptiscism, but eventually even if i'm wrong, i wrote it down out of misinformation (which i doubt at the moment), not out of malice. I wish you all good luck and in a week we'll know whats up.

It'd be good for you to stick around, the more posters on the board the better, and the more it will thrive. Anyways, we're just in a confusing state is all. We can't exactly trust either of you, that's the problem (and the joy at times) of the internet and message boards.

If you're legit, Mercurix, then you will stumble across little bits of info none of us have discussed thus far, and maybe you can bring it here to the board, to prove it.

We'll see, I definitely like you more than ACL06 (seems a bit like a robot eh?)

I understand man, but even though I think he's just a dick trying to stir something up, I can't keep that up out of fear he or some other is legit. Hope you understand. Also, I see I might have gotten all of y'all's hopes up pretty big, even with other acts I mentioned as not being confirmed. I don't want to be the SOB who didn't call it right in the end. I'll stick around for sure, but no more info posting. Sorry.

P.S. I suggest everyone read my original posts, where I state that nothing I'm saying is 100% accurate and I'm just picking up the scraps of info where I can. Some of you think i'm trying to pose as the next coming of the messiah or something...just read up...im not pretending anything, so I'd appreciate the tone and language to lighten up, since I havn't insulted you in any way. And acl06, if ur legit, im far from being 13, and im truly sorry for posting. You're right, it was bullshit. (a**hole)

Is it really ACL's place to debunk rumors on a message board? I mean, I could understand if someone posted it as FACT on a website, but for them take time out of their day (they're already crunched for time as it is, as evident in the week delay) to discredit rumors on a board seems a bit odd to me for some reason.
