hmm, and you aren't f*ing with us? that'd be a mighty nasty thing to do here now, there are a lot of people here who have huge hopes on this now, so if this is a cruel joke, which i don't believe it is, please let it be known.
if it isn't, thanks a ton, this is huge and a great money saver for me.
Well I remember reading an artice on nme, about Muse's new album... Matt Bellamy said that this new LP will "shock their fans", it is supposed to have a more trip hop sound along with the hard core rockin that Muse puts out. Even though Bellamy and Thom Yorke vocally sound alike, I would LOVE to see both Muse and Radiohead in the same festival...IMO, that would make this years festival the greatest, IMO!!!
I would never do something so f*cked up...we just got briefed today and the whole place is giddy as hell cuz we're all radiohead fans...so if this isn't true, we'll all be pissed as shit at the festival's producer. But I doubt that is the case.
If I hear anything new, which I probably will, I'll post it...I just don't want this to get back to me in any way, seeing as they trust we'll keep it quiet for now.
Ok, I am a little skeptical, but I will go along with this line of discussion, if no other reason than things are slow on the ACL confirmation front.
I figure somebody with true inside info could very well get on this board and provide accurate content. On the other hand, if somebody were going to jerk people's chains, no band would be more effective than Radiohead. Probably more positive passion for Radiohead than any other band on the Board. One reason I assume that bands like Guster and Gomez are confirmed is that a prankster would not get much mileage spreading rumors about them. But, you can get people all amped up for Radiohead though, almost to an unhealthy degree (i.e, ACL will be called a failure if Radiohead does not show).
You bothered to make an account, that gives you a little bit of credibility, revealing your name would be best, but you don't want to get caught, so that is not possible, I can understand that.
Anyway, if you are contact with insiders.
What other bands are in? (not the big name arena headliners that are not locked in, but the middle level acts).
Also, which of the rumored/speculated bands are not being discused or mentioned at all.
Yeah, also curious if there was any word on Beck, what the chances were for DMB to be there. Also, like they said, some middle range acts.
Also wondering, looking at your past posts, you've asked questions from the view of an outsider, saying "The ACL Organizers" not the "Organizers that I work with"
I'm still going to take your word for it for now, but I do wish you could put up some answers to these questions.
Well Malone, I understand you totally, but quite frankly, Im a little old for pranks and you're right, I won't reveal any names, nor my company's name, as this could cause trouble. Also, i'm just an employee here, mid level...I dont have access to it all, but I can still find stuff out. For example, they want designs with many bands on them to use on their website and for other promo purposes, but some of these are still not confirmed, they just want them in case so they can send those out right away. Those bands on the designs include DMB (unconfirmed), Radiohead (confirmed), Stephen Malkmus (im not sure if he's a confirmed act), Tom Petty (conf), John Mayer (conf), Matisyahu (conf), Flaming Lips (conf)...since im also not a graphic designer I dont know what other images they're working with. I'm not sure how much more info of this sorrt I can give you, but I'm also not promising or selling anything. Just hoping its all true like the rest of you.
Yeah, Isaac....we were just got them as clients on monday, and the briefing was today. So, before this, I had no clue. Plus, I don't have any direct affiliations with the ACL group, I only work with a company that's now working with them....im not even on the ACL team here...
Well Mercurix, Malone had raised good points, but you've stated it all maturely enough, it seems as if this is a huge rumor for the next week.
As you get more information, if you could pass it on like you'd said. Anyways, so if I gather right you work at the Graphic Design firm which is doing designs for ACL of bands that will be (might be?) playing?
Opening shows for Flaming Lips, playing Bonnaroo. Makes sense.
For those who don't know the name, he was in Pavement.
Mercurix, don't get in trouble. My question was partly to test you out, see what you came up with. The details and attitude of your responses, lead me to think you are legit.
Yeah, isaac. So, this is what I know right now. If any of you that are better at finding stuff out than I am can get more info on all these, that'd be great. Specially on Malkmus, since I don't know if he's confirmed. I'm a Pavement fan, so wouldn't mind seeing him play.
Hey, has anyone heard anything about Tool? I havn't but they have those dates cleared and would be starting their US tour...it'd be unreal to have both Tool and Radiohead at the same festival..
I hate to be the doubter here, but I don't think Mercurix is legit. If he was, he has already given too much information about himself and his company. Either he is authorized to say this, his connection is not what he is saying it is, or he has no real connection to the festival. My bet, based on other debunking of this rumor elsewhere, is the latter. I apologize if I'm wrong Mercurix.
