a little bird told me that since the counting crows and goo goo dolls are going on tour this summer that one of them is suppose to be at ACL because they will be in Texas at around the time that Acl fest is happening can anyone confirm or deny this for me....

Well nobody can really confirm or deny this, but I'd list that as having really good chances, they are in Texas right before the festival, and then it stops the 9th, so not a bad chance that one, if not both, will be playing the festival.

I doubt it. It is one thing for a band to play Stubb's or La Zona Rosa during ACL. But, a double bill at Verizon Wireless would be awfully competitive (it would be detrimental to the draw of the Verizon show, little or no impact on ACL which is going to max out regardless).

When I saw the tour dates posted last week, my interpretation was that neither band would play ACL.

There have been cases of bands playing Verizon Wireless and The Backyard back to back, but those instances are few and far between. Usually, if a band plays Verizon, the Austin show is months later or earlier. The recent Nine Inch Nails show at Erwin Center and their show at Verizon in June are less than three months apart, that is pretty unusual.

I would love to see the Counting Crows at ACL, so I hope my analysis is wrong.

Actually, to correct my post, playing Verizon mostly means there won't be an Austin show. The Verizon show is meant to cover the whole region.

I guess I don't really know the region well enough to understand this, but what you said seems to make sense.
